YANE FT: Youths 2 - 0 Hartlepool United
By Derek Priestley
A second half dominant display rewards the Imps.
The afternoon kick off saw Lincoln City host Hartlepool united in an eagerly-awaited fixture, where both teams came into the game in good form.
Hartlepool got to grips with the game and started to mount pressure on the Lincoln City penalty box. A number of fouls were given against City and Hartlepool had a few free kicks in dangerous areas. However, City defended accordingly and started to string a few passes of their own.
Halfway through the first half, Charlie West delivered a dangerous cross which Jordan Adebayo-Smith headed agonisingly onto the crossbar, which was the closest both teams came to breaking the dead lock. Hartlepool then broke down the other end and earned themselves a free kick which had them appealing for a penalty as it was given just inches from the box. Appeals waved away and a free kick was awarded in yet another dangerous area for the Pools.
The imps were the stronger side towards the end of the first half, using controlled possession to get down the sides of Hartlepool and create 1v1 situations in the final third. City were unable to score with their controlled possession.
The half ended all square, setting the second half up for a fight to see who can grab all three points to gain an advantage in the league.

The Imps in the second half started positively. After pushing through the whole of the first half against the wind, were beginning to start to get complete control and looked very comfortable at the back.
Jordan Adebayo-Smith was alert to a mistake from the Hartlepool keeper and tucked it away into an empty net to give the Imps the opening goal of the game.
Now on top of the game at a 1 - 0 lead the Imps were pushing for another goal and were having a high percentage of possession within the opposition's half of the field.
High pressing as a team resulted in Elliott Sartorious forcing a mistake from the defenders, he picked up the ball and skilfully had the confidence to take on three opposing players, and send it into the bottom corner to double the advantage.
From this point the team in red and white were in complete control to manage the game out and were rewarded with a solid 2 - 0 win to get back to winning ways.
